Hedgehog map!
Hedgehogs are in trouble, however, we know that locally we have populations navigating our gardens, green spaces, pathways and roads. Have you seen one in the last 6 months?
We are creating a local hedgehog map! Simply send us your postcode and house number and we will plot your sighting. From this data we will create ‘Hedgehog Highways’ to help these endangered mammals and give them every chance they will not become extinct in the near future.
Please send us your sighting by 1st June 2021. We will then share our map with you and you can see where hedgehogs are and tell you how you can help them!
On the verge…
We have identified a number of streets and verges which, with a little wildlife planting and sowing, have great potential for nature’s recovery. We are collaborating with Nottingham City Council to ensure these streets and areas will not be cleansed, ‘weeded’ or sprayed with pesticide and with the support of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, wildflower seeds and advice will be plentiful! Click on the link below and register to help brighten up a street near you with wildflowers and abundant food for bees too.
Guardians of the canopy!
With the support of Nottingham City Council’s Tree Officer (who also happens to be a local resident!) we have created a map of our project area which shows where tree pits are sited.
What’s a tree pit?
This is space on a street pavement where a tree once grew, and where there may be space still (pit) available for a tree to be replanted there. The pit may be now covered over or have remains of a stump.
Help us bring back lost trees, plant new trees and become a Guardian of the canopy!
